Outdoor Nature Adventure: Cool Big Lizard Climbing a Tree

green big lizard in treeI’ve been missing my regular nature walks over the past months, but today I decided to take a walk with nature and see what awaited me. It was a lovely sunny day with puffy white clouds. I took a stroll through the ancient trees, each of which has a story to tell.

I passed a family of racoons strutting around with the little ones tagging along. Oh, how cute they were. Mom or Dad (can’t really tell which gender is which), is always in the lead.

I wandered around the corner, scanning the trails to see if I could see anything that was out of the ordinary. I did see a few white birds in a flock, pecking at the grass. These are regulars, which I was happy to see, but nothing that was out of the ordinary.

I continued on my nature walk, then suddenly I spotted a huge lizard on the grass. It kind of blended in with the grass, so it took a while for me to focus my eyes on it. Oh yeah, finally something cool!

I usually see them strung out across the grass in groups, so I looked around to see if I spotted any of his colleagues. No, no one else was around but him.

I decided to be a little adventurous and moved a little closer to him. I’ve seen some of them get a little aggressive if you go too near them, but this one didn’t seem aggressive.

My big cool lizard friend started to climb the tree. It was fun to watch him scamper up the tree where he most likely felt a lot safer from this annoying guest. Little did he know that he was giving me a better view for a fantastic photo.

This beautiful creature with its long striped tail made me suddenly realize how much I’ve been missing in the world of nature since this pandemic struck us. I think this was definitely a welcoming gift, so I had to seal it in my memory with this gorgeous picture.
