Locs Retwist – Organic Remedies for Moisture

Now it’s time to retwist your locs, but you are not sure what to use at home to trap the moisture, no worries, you are on the right page. Stick around for some of my natural organic oils and home remedies that I use to keep my locs looking soft and shiny for days.

Before I had locs, I must admit that I didn’t bother to pay attention to what I was putting in my hair. The only time I would know that something was wrong with the product I was using, was when I noticed that my hair was becoming dry and starting to break.

Fast forward to now, I have been trying to take the best care of my hair, and I can see the difference in the texture and the health of my scalp. I used to have dry itchy scalp, which was very embarrassing. Right now I don’t have any of those issues.

Best Home Remedy to Retwist Locs

When it comes to retwisting your dreads, you have to take a different approach than when you are styling traditional hair. One wrong move can leave residues or flakes in your strands of locs. Aloe Vera can be used to retwist your dreads at home, leaving it moisturized and healthy.

If you have the plant growing at home, you can simply slice it open and scrape out the gel substance that’s inside the skin. Blend or mix it with a few drops of an essential oil of your choice, a great choice is Sweet Almond Oil, to give it a nice fragrance.

Use your homemade locs moisturizer to retwist your hair. Make sure to smooth out the gel on the root of your locs so that it penetrates your hair thoroughly. After your retwist, either air dry or go under a hairdryer. Personally, I just let mine air dry.

In addition to locking in moisture in your hair, Aloe Vera is great for dry scalp, and is also known to promote hair growth, which is good for those who are trying to regrow their edges, bald spots or for general hair growth.

For those of you who don’t have the Aloe Vera readily available, don’t feel left out, you can buy Organic Aloe Vera and apply it to your locs during your retwist. You will get the same benefits as the fresh plant. During the hot summer months, using this inexpensive remedy can prevent loss of moisture, which is common during hot climates.

Another organic remedy to moisturize your locs and prevent frizzy hair, is Organic Jojoba Oil. This can be mixed with other oils before applying it to your hair. Please do not overdue  by putting too much oil at one time.

Keeping treating your locs right and they will thank you years down the road. Moisturizing them will help prevent breakage and a dry, dull look that can easily occur without proper care. I can’t wait to share more useful dread care tips with you. See you soon!
